It’s official! NOBO joins NEWS

At the last meeting, the membership of NOBO voted unanimously to join NEWS (New England Weavers’ Seminar).  This volunteer organization of weaving guilds from New England gathers together to host an action packed conference every 2 years  to promote, what else, weaving and fiber related arts with courses, exhibits and speakers. The next NEWS will take place July 7-12, 2011 at Smith College.

With the planning process underway, NOBO will send 2 representatives to participate in planning this event. NOBO’s designated task during the conference will be to manage the installation of Guild Shows.  NOBO members will also have the option of submitting pieces in any of the juried shows to be displayed  during NEWS.

Congratulations, NOBO on stepping forward to support the mission of NEWS and thank you, reps Joan and Kathie for volunteering to represent NOBO.

  1. Thank you, Eileen, for presenting this to NOBO, and thanks, also, to the membership for giving Kathie and me the opportunity to represent our wonderful group of weavers in this capacity. We will definitely keep the group updated on what is happening, and I truly believe we will all benefit from this new affiliation.

  2. The NEWS Trustees Web site has announced to its membership the fact that NOBO is now a member of their organization. Subsequently, several members posted comments welcoming NOBO to their group.

And, as our first “official” acts, both Kathie and I posted comments stressing our enthusiasm at the opportunity to become involved.

    So, we’re off and running!

  3. An exciting huge step for our “young” guild. Many thanks to Eileen for realizing NOBO was ready to seriously consider joining NEWS and adeptly explaining all we needed to know to wisely make our decision. Appreciation is also extended to our reps, Joan & Kathie, for volunteering for positions that will require more of their time. I believe I can speak for everyone and say NOBO Handweavers is proud to have both of you act on our behalf.
