{"id":1199,"date":"2011-01-27T20:19:37","date_gmt":"2011-01-28T00:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nobo.kk1x.net\/?p=1199"},"modified":"2011-01-27T20:19:37","modified_gmt":"2011-01-28T00:19:37","slug":"hear-ye-hear-ye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nobohandweavers.com\/blog\/2011\/01\/27\/hear-ye-hear-ye\/","title":{"rendered":"Hear ye, Hear ye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bear with me as this is going to be a bit of a lengthy post.\u00a0 I will keep it as condensed as possible but I am trying to share some of what would have been presented during the business part of our January meeting (had it not been for our seventh snowstorm).<\/p>\n<p>Come April, NOBO Handweavers will be 3 years old!\u00a0 Hooray!\u00a0 This is quite an accomplishment.\u00a0 And in April we will celebrate!\u00a0 However, before then, we have some work to do to insure the continuance of our guild.\u00a0 During our March meeting, we need to be able to know who the new officers will be for our April 2011-March 2012 guild year.\u00a0 We do have a Nominating Committee \u2013 Betsy, Patricia, and Margaret.<\/p>\n<p>Please come forth to be considered for filling a position.\u00a0 Every member of our guild is highly valued and has much to offer.\u00a0 You do not need several years of weaving behind you to successfully hold a \u201ccourt\u201d position.\u00a0 These positions, though having basic responsibilities, are flexible and you may certainly put your own signature on them. Approach the position of an officer as you approach your loom \u2013 determined, enthusiastic, creatively.\u00a0\u00a0 That is the fun part.\u00a0 There are no shoes to fill.\u00a0 What is best is a change of guard, offering different ways and views.\u00a0 Design a position if you see something is missing.\u00a0 Eileen made a terrific suggestion &#8211; consider sharing an office with someone.\u00a0 For example, Lady\/Sir NOBO and Lady\/Sir Heddle could alternate the running of meetings, more of a co-presidency.\u00a0 We all have varied strengths beyond our strong, communal love for weaving.\u00a0 I have seen them first hand during many a guild meeting.\u00a0 Everyone is more than capable.\u00a0 A guild needs the active participation of all members for it to stay strong and especially for it to grow.<\/p>\n<p>The following is the list of open positions.\u00a0 The least number of members to fill each position is in parentheses.\u00a0\u00a0 Please email me with your interest.\u00a0 A sign-up sheet will also be circulated during the February meeting.\u00a0 Then between February and March, the Nominating Committee will meet.\u00a0 We will present our new officers during the March meeting.\u00a0 The April meeting will be the first of their \u201creign\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lady\/Sir NOBO<\/strong> (1) Head of guild<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lady\/Sir Heddle<\/strong> (1) Second in command<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ladies\/Sirs of the Draft<\/strong> (3) Program Planners, deciding upon a program for each meeting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scribe<\/strong> (1) Secretarial duties, such as minute taking and posting on site<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shepherdess\/Shepherd<\/strong> (1) Introducing and keeping track of new members<\/p>\n<p><strong>Town Crier<\/strong> (1) Posting\/Emailing relevant guild info, such as meeting reminders<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keeper of the Written Word<\/strong> (1) \u2013 Librarian<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lady\/Sir Calendar<\/strong> (1) \u2013 Posting guild\/fiber events on NOBO\u2019s site calendar<\/p>\n<p><strong>Victular<\/strong> (1) \u2013 Food coordinator<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organizing Chancellor <\/strong>(1) &#8211;
